Corby Town v Kidderminster Harriers

2 November 2011
FA Cup, Fourth Qualifying Round Replay
Corby Town 4 Kidderminster Harriers 1 (att 1,026)

An eventful evening at Corby's new Steel Park ground. The first half wasn't great though, Kidderminster scored early and were content to sit back and soak up Corby's pressure, which in the main they managed with ease.

The second half was a different matter. Harriers missed a great chance to double their lead, but soon after conceded two quick goals. Then, as Corby got on top, one of the floodlight bulbs went out, leaving a corner of the pitch in gloom.

I thought it was light enough to continue playing, but instead we suffered a 40 minute delay as an electrician was called, all the lights were turned off and fired up again in the hope of fixing the problem. The faulty bulb refused to work, but luckily common sense prevailed and the final 24 minutes were played.

Corby dominated what was left of the match, scoring twice more to book an away match at Bristol Rovers in the next round.

Steel Park backs onto Corby's previous Rockingham Triangle Stadium. In fact, players still use the old changing rooms, and access the new pitch via a walkway from the rear of the old main stand.

Facilities at the new ground are a seated stand and, behind one goal, a large covered terrace - although during a wet and windy first half the high angled roof only kept those towards the back of the terrace dry. There's plenty of room around the rest of the ground to build more stands and terracing in the future, depending on need, and finance.
