Bentley Village v Parkgate reserves

2pm 7 November 2026

Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League, Division One
Bentley Village 3 Parkgate reserves 1 (att 33)

The last time I saw Bentley Village play at home was in 2022, when a draw was enough for them to win division one of the Doncaster League. Since then they've changed leagues and grounds.

They're now in the second tier of the Sheffield County Senior League, and these days home matches are played at a ground they share with Bentley's amateur rugby league club.

Rugby is clearly the primary sport, with football goals placed in front of rugby posts on the main pitch, which is fenced off. An adjacent clubhouse includes a bar and changing rooms, with picnic tables outside providing somewhere to sit while watching the action.

This was a lively, and at times feisty, game between two evenly-matched teams. Bentley scored first, against the run of play, and it was no surprise when Parkgate levelled shortly before half time.

But they weren't level for long, as the home side went back in front in stoppage time at the end of the half.

The second period was well contested, with Bentley looking to make the game safe and Parkgate pushing to get back on level terms. It was a surprise that the further goal came in stoppage time, and secured all three points for the home side.
