Mid Lancashire League, Division One
Southport Trinity 1 Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs reserves 5 (att 25)
Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs' second team came from behind before running out comfortable winners against their local rivals.
There was little sign of a one-sided outcome when Trinity took a first half lead. The game turned before half time when the visitors scored twice in quick succession, the second a penalty.
Further goals after the break rounded off a comfortable evening for Amateurs. They could have scored more, but the home side might have added to their tally in a game that wasn't short on chances.
It was a lively match, but the occasion seemed a little low-key for a local derby. There might have been reasons for that, with Amateurs' first team also having a game at the same time and the venue, Devonshire Road Playing Fields, not being Trinity's usual home ground.
Cricket is the main sport at Trinity's regular home, so when the cricket and football seasons overlap the footballers have to find somewhere else to play. Devonshire Road is nearby, and is a public park with changing rooms, bordered by houses on one side and a stream on the other.
