6.30pm 2 September 2014
Liverpool County Premier League, Division Two
Woolton 0 KCFC 2 (att 14)
Two well-taken first half goals put KCFC in the driving seat at Woolton, and they were even able to miss a penalty before the break as they ran out comfortable winners.
Woolton's challenge effectively ended after the final action of the first half. They were denied a possible penalty for handball, and had a player sent off for protesting at the decision a little too vociferously.
With the home side down to 10 men, the second half was mostly one-way traffic, but somehow Woolton failed to score again, missing countless chances when a goal looked a certainty.
Woolton are newcomers to the league this season, although their home venue is one that's been used by clubs previously yet somehow eluded me. It's the Merseyside Youth Association's Simpson Ground, in Hillfoot Road, situated in one of Liverpool's leafier suburbs. It's a large playing field, with several pitches and a changing room block.
