Redcar Athletic v Coxhoe Athletic

2pm  6 May 2013

Wearside League
Redcar Athletic 2 Coxhoe Athletic 3 (att 53)

It took some swift driving to get from Killingworth to Redcar in time for a 2pm kick off, although for some unknown reason this game didn't actually get underway until about 10 past two ... frustrating for me as it made getting to my third game of the day, at 6.30pm, a bit trickier.

When it did start it was another good first half, and just as at Killingworth the sides reached the break having scored twice each. This time there was a goal in the second half, and it was Coxhoe, struggling in the league, who got it to earn a surprising win.

Redcar Athletic are an ambitious and relatively young club, with designs on promotion to the Northern League. Floodlights were installed at their Green Lane home this season, and according to the match programme a stand is also planned.

For now it's an enclosed pitch, with a clubhouse and changing rooms just outside the fenced pitch perimeter. It's close to the Redcar seafront, pleasant on a warm afternoon, but I doubt it'd be so appealing on a wet and windy night in the depths of winter.
