Mochdre Sports v Bro Cernyw

10 April 2012
Vale of Clwyd & Conwy League/Clwyd East League, Auxiliary Cup Group B
Mochdre Sports 6 Bro Cernyw 0 (att 28)

Not a game that will linger long in my memory. Mochdre scored their first five in a little over 30 first half minutes, adding the sixth early in the second period.

After that, a combination of poor finishing and over-elaborate play in the final third of the pitch spared the visitors a heavier defeat. Bro Cernyw, who play a division lower than their hosts, rarely threatened.

From this season the old Clwyd League is split into two regional leagues, and with both having completed their league programmes the Auxillary Cup provides an additional end of season trophy for clubs to compete for.

Mochdre's ground is in a much nicer setting than its Mochdre Industrial Estate address might suggest, surrounded by rolling hills compensating for the drone of traffic on the nearby A55. It's shared with the local cricket club, the pitch on the far side of the square. The near side of the pitch is roped off, with a pair of dugouts on the far side.
