Partizan Beograd v TSC Bačka Topola

4.30pm 29 March 2025

Serbia, Super Liga
Partizan Beograd 0 TSC Bačka Topola 0 (att 1,990)

After the morning game we had ample time for a stroll through the city centre, a stop for a beer and to head back to the hotel for a while before catching a bus out to our main game of the weekend.

Partizan, along with fierce city rivals Red Star, are the dominant forces in Serbian football. This year Red Star are running away with the league title, leaving Partizan a distant second, and the rest way behind both.

That might explain the small crowd and rather lacklustre performance from the home side. The Partizan 'ultras' did their best with continuous vocal support, and a small group of away fans also made themselves heard, but it was a low-key afternoon.

An early shot just over from TSC was a rare first half highlight. Both teams showed more attacking intent after the break, but at best they created just half chances.

It was a game that was destined to end nil nil long before the final whistle. The away side looked just the better of the two teams, and will doubtless see earning a draw as a successful afternoon.

The all-seated Partizan Stadium is impressive. It's a bowl with huge floodlights that can be seen from the centre of Belgrade.

Once inside, having bought main stand tickets for about £5.50, its shortcomings are more evident. Like a lot of Serbian infrastructure it's in need of some investment. But that could risk diluting it's appeal, and for now it remains a great venue to visit.
