Woodkirk Valley 2 Collegians 0 (att 24)
Two goals in the final 15 minutes were enough for Woodkirk Valley to complete a rather laboured win against a Collegians side who played most of the match with 10 men.
A robust challenge, which I didn't see clearly, sparked a melee after around 20 minutes. The result, after plenty of shouting, pushing and shoving, was a red card for the visitors and a yellow for the hosts.
Despite being a man down Collegians, one place off the bottom of the table, matched Woodkirk Valley and, if anything, looked more likely to break the deadlock.
But clear chances at either end were rare. I was resigned to the game ending goalless before the home side finally broke the deadlock. The goal also broke Collegians' resistance, and a second soon followed.
Woodkirk Valley are based at Woodkirk Academy. There is a 3G pitch but the football club plays on adjacent grass pitch on the school playing field. Part of the playing area was roped off, and there's some grass banking for an elevated view.
