2.30pm 24 February 2024 North Wales Coast East League, Premier Division Abergele 1 Llansannan 1 (att 27) I had planned to be watching football in Scotland but with my car unexpectedly off the road I needed a new itinerary. It had to be somewhere easy to reach on public transport and that was unlikely to fall victim to the weather. An artificial pitch at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay fitted the bill perfectly. It's the current home of Abergele FC, who have had to move a few miles from their own town since I visited them early last season. The ground probably ticks the relevant ground grading boxes, but as a basic caged pitch it's not a great place to watch a game. Spectators are restricted to one touchline, but even from there the viewing is impaired by small-sided goals, substitutes and coaches.
