Huddersfield Town U21 v Colchester United U21

2pm  10 August 2015

Under 21 Professional Development League Two
Huddersfield Town U21 4 Colchester United U21 0 (att 105)

Easy win for Huddersfield Town as the new season got underway for professional clubs at under 21 level.

The home side scored three times in a dominant first half, then added a fourth just as the game came to a close. Colchester were better in the second half than the first, but with sharper finishing the winning margin would have been more.

The venue was Huddersfield's Canalside training complex in Leeds Road. It was the third time I've seen a game here, each visit a different pitch and so a different groundhopping "tick".

Town's under 21 side use an enclosed pitch immediately to the left as you enter the car park. I'd previously seen the under 18s on a pitch behind the complex on the far side of the canal, and before Huddersfield Town moved in I watched Bay Athletic on another part of what was then the Syngenta sports ground.

The under 21 pitch has an area for spectators along just one side of the pitch. As usual at these venues there's no cover, which would have been handy during a torrential downpour in the first half. Spectators are welcomed, with admission a bargain at £1 and teamsheets distributed freely.
