Leicestershire Senior League, Division One
Hathern 0 Heather St John's reserves 0 (att 22)
I didn't have high hopes for this game ahead of kick off, but as Hathern's was one of just two grounds I'd got left to visit in the Leicestershire Senior League, and as it fitted in well after the morning's match in Lincoln, I headed to Pasture Lane.
The ground is fairly typical for Leicestershire's county league, with a railed off pitch close to the changing rooms. There's no hard standing or cover for spectators, but the visitors at least get the use of the one surviving dugout, while the home dugouts looks to have suffered storm damage.
Sadly the entertainment on the pitch was lacking. Two poor sides struggled to create many chances on a difficult and bumpy pitch. Heather were the better side and came closest to scoring, hitting a post and a crossbar.
It looked likely to end nil nil long before the end, but the home side certainly deserved their point after a battling display.

Hi Steve. Great blog. Would you let us use some of your photos in the Groundhopper iTunes/Android app? All the best. Geir.
ReplyDeleteHi Geir, thanks for your kind words about the blog. I'd be happy for pics to be used for any non commercial purposes, but not if you're charging people for the app. Hope you understand. Steve
