Shaw Lane Aquaforce v Louth Town

8pm  10 December 2013

Northern Counties East League, Division One
Shaw Lane Aquaforce 11 Louth Town 2 (att 128)

Bottom of the table Louth Town were delayed on their way to Barnsley, resulting in the game kicking off 15 minutes late. Within another 15 minutes they were probably wishing they hadn't bothered making the journey at all, as Shaw Lane raced into a 3-0 lead.

The visitors pulled one back but trailed 4-1 at the break, and had their keeper to thank for a string of good saves to keep the score down. He didn't do so well early in the second half though, fumbling the ball into the net for an own goal to put the home side 5-1 up.

More goals followed as Shaw Lane moved into double figures, a trio of players scoring hat tricks, although Louth's second was probably the best goal of the night.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce are in their first season at this level, and while they'll face tougher challenges than Louth they're top of the league and on course for a swift promotion.

Last season they played on an outer pitch at the Shaw Lane sports ground, but have since moved to share a rugby ground, floodlit and with a seated stand on the far side.
